DEMERITS OF HORMONE REPLACEMENT THERAPY WHICH CAUSES LUNG CANCER IN WOMEN

As fate would have it, Menopause is undoubtedly one of the toughest phases in a women’s life, when she experiences unbearable pain as a result of several hormone generation and secretion happening in their body. They undergo Hormone Replacement Therapy as a first step towards diminishing the pain to which they are exposed to owing to menopause. Unfortunately, few side effects originate in the long run because of that therapy, but they don’t care about that in order to battle out the current situation. Sadly, only a very few are aware of the fact that this replacement therapy intensifies the pain a women’s body if they happen to smoke a lot, thereby increasing the progression of lung cancer and aggravating their present situation by introducing several complications. A special kind of hormones known as Estrogens actually stimulates a speedy dispersal of vicious carcinogenic cells in the lungs, thereby enhancing the growth rate of tumor. Unfortunately, it was found that women have a lot of Estrogen receptors in their lung cancer cells as opposed to men, which makes more prone to an almost fatal lung cancer.

No individual can control the effect of certain type of hormones in their body beyond a certain point. Researchers recently gave an appalling result that a special hormone known as Estrogen is the major driving force behind the development of lung cancer in women. Of course, smoking of tobacco based products like cigarettes is the major reason for the growth of tumor in the lungs. However, the effect and pain due to this deadly disease enhance only when the carcinogenic cells starts disseminating beyond a certain threshold point in our lungs and it is the estrogen that is responsible for the rapid spreading. This malignant hormone is necessary in women for proper metabolic functions and they are generated during their phase of menopause. It was scientifically proven that, women have more number of Estrogen receptors in the interior walls of their lungs when compared to that of men. Several experiments were conducted with female mice without and with ovaries in their body. It was observed that, those with ovaries were showing a rapid growth in tumor as opposed to the ones without ovaries.

A recent article published by a well known Indian magazine revealed a shocking fact that, number of women succumbing to death owing to a deadly disease like lung cancer has increased when compared to the number of women dying because of breast cancer for the first time in the medical history. This was undoubtedly an appalling new for women which demands immediate attention and measures as soon as possible. If it is not addressed properly, then the number of women getting addicted to smoking of cigarettes is going to increase and outrank the number of men drawn to the same evil habit. In fact, lots of women have embarked upon their journey to death during their teenage itself by getting hooked up to smoking. Unfortunately, they are the ones who are supposed to refrain themselves from this vicious habit instead of getting addicted, given the fact they are better than men in terms of maturity. It is of no doubt that, quitting smoking requires a lot courage and will power, but it is high time they do that to act as an example for the men, their family and friends.

In a country which is known for its rich culture and tradition like India, even there women have started getting addicted to this vicious habit of smoking under the name of modernization and western civilization. It is high time that they realize that this momentary pleasure one gets from smoking of these virulent cigarettes is going to affect them in the long run, thereby making their life miserable forever.

Breast cancer was topping that list till the 19th century in majority of the world for women. A recent survey conducted by a reputed American university revealed a shocking fact that lung cancer has overtaken its former contender breast cancer by a huge margin, securing the title as the leading cancer killer in the world for women. This showed that approximately 120000 American women succumbed to death after suffering from this brutal disease. However, the reason behind the sudden increase in death toll due to this disease is still unknown and unaccountable. In addition to that, it also disclosed some good news that number of women who are able to make a survival after proper diagnosis and treatment for lung cancer is more than that of the men. For proper statistical data, it was brought out that women had a decent survival rate of 16% as opposed to the men’s survival rate of 12%.
